Hello, I'm Nicola!

I am a watercolor artist based in New York City.

My painting style is loose, expressive, and atmospheric. I believe a simple portrait holds the power to reveal complex stories, whether it be of love, loss, resilience, or hope. Through these stories our sense of connection and understanding in our shared humanity is deepened. This is the true beauty of portraiture.

Both in my own art and in my teaching I encourage freedom, showing that watercolor is not about total control but about letting go and seeing what happens. I love sharing this approach with my students and helping them build confidence and connect with watercolor as a joyful and really magical medium.
